A Deep-Rooted Commitment to Sustainability at Murrieta’s Well
At Murrieta’s Well, our philosophy is simple: exceptional wines begin with a deep respect for the land. Nestled in the rolling hills of California’s Livermore Valley, our estate is not only rich in history—it’s grounded in sustainability. Since being founded by the Wente family in 1991, Murrieta’s Well has embraced practices that preserve the beauty and vitality of our vineyards for generations to come.
Sustainability is not an initiative here—it’s an ethos that touches every aspect of how we farm, craft, and care for our wines.
Estate-Grown with Purpose
Every bottle of Murrieta’s Well wine begins in our 100% estate vineyards, where we farm with intention and integrity. We use no-till methods to protect soil health and foster carbon retention. Our precision irrigation systems ensure we manage water thoughtfully, adapting to seasonal rhythms and vineyard needs. The preservation of natural habitats and biodiversity plays an essential role in our farming approach, enhancing vine resilience and the overall ecosystem.
This mindful stewardship not only nurtures the land—it also elevates the quality of the wines we produce.

Certified Sustainable, From Vineyard to Glass
Murrieta’s Well is proud to be Certified Sustainable in both our vineyards and winery, a distinction held by fewer than 10% of wineries in California. It’s a reflection of our enduring pursuit of excellence—not only in winemaking, but in our responsibility to the land and the people who care for it.
Inside the winery, we have introduced innovative water conservation systems that reduce usage while maintaining the purity of our process. We’ve also transitioned to lighter-weight bottles, cutting down on glass and reducing carbon emissions across our supply chain, without compromising the elegance and integrity of our presentation.

Beyond the Vineyard
Our commitment to sustainability goes far beyond farming. At Murrieta’s Well, we believe in supporting our people and the communities that surround us. We offer our team paid volunteer time to give back to local causes and proudly support a network of nonprofit partners focused on building stronger, more resilient communities.

Wines of Place, Made with Intention
Everything we do at Murrieta’s Well—every vine we tend, every wine we craft—is a reflection of our commitment to place. With roots that trace back to the Wente family’s original plantings in the 1880s, and a modern legacy shaped since 1991, we continue to build on a foundation of sustainability, quality, and authenticity.
As Earth Day invites us to reflect on our role in protecting the planet, we invite you to explore wines that honor the land from which they come—and the care that brings them to life.
